At Restaurante La Venus, we offer an irresistible dish of Grilled Prawns with Garlic and Olive Oil, perfect for seafood lovers. This quick and simple recipe highlights the fresh flavors of the Mediterranean, with prawns basted in a savory blend of olive oil, garlic, and lemon juice. Enjoy this as a delicious appetizer or a main course, best paired with a crisp glass of Spanish white wine.

Ingredients for Grilled Prawns (Serves 4)

  • 1 lb Fresh Whole Prawns (or thawed prawn tails)

  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil

  • 2 tbsp Parsley, finely chopped

  • 1 clove Garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp Fresh Lemon Juice

  • 3-6 drops Hot Sauce

  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

Instructions for Grilled Prawns with Garlic and Olive Oil

  1. Preheat the Grill

    • Preheat your gas or charcoal grill to medium-high heat.

  2. Prepare the Garlic and Olive Oil Mixture

    • In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, parsley, garlic, and lemon juice. Season generously with salt, pepper, and a few drops of hot sauce. This mixture will be used to baste the prawns.

  3. Grill the Prawns

    • Arrange your prawns on the grill. Use a basting brush to coat them with the garlic olive oil mixture. Close the lid of the grill and cook for 1 minute.

    • Flip the prawns, baste them again with the oil mixture, and close the lid for another minute.

  4. Finish Cooking the Prawns

    • Open the grill lid and check the prawns. Remove any prawns that are fully opaque, while allowing the rest to finish cooking. This should take no more than 5 minutes.

    • Once all the prawns are fully cooked, drizzle any remaining garlic olive oil mixture over them and serve immediately.

Tips for Perfectly Grilled Prawns

  • Prawn Tails: If you're grilling prawn tails, they will cook even faster—about 1 to 1 ½ minutes per side.

  • Whole Prawns: Whole prawns with their shells on will take 1-2 minutes per side to cook fully.

  • Avoid Overcooking: The key to juicy prawns is to cook them minimally. Watch closely and remove them from the grill as soon as they become opaque.
